In Honour of International Women’s Day: My Founder's Story
The live events industry runs through my veins. For the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s biggest brands, crafting unforgettable experiences. But for me, it was never about the size of the show, it was always about creating moments that truly matter.
Then, the world stopped.
During the pandemic, with events put on hold, I found solace in in the daily 1 hour walks with my toddler and we would bring home sticks to make stick man, a wand, or using the wood to learn a new skill and make boho wall hangings and send to friends and family. My son found magic in the woods and I found macramé! Not sure if you know it (you prob wore it if you were a 70’s baby!) It’s a simple, mindful craft using knots to make anything from plant hangers to clothes, and this new craft helped me stay grounded in a time of uncertainty. I started sharing my passion online, unknowingly building what would become a “macramé army” of over 1,000 people, all seeking a creative outlet that nurtured their well-being and gave them a sense of community.
That’s when I realised: wellness wasn’t just a personal passion; It was my purpose.
I began to dive deep into the power of well-being, going head first into courses, books, retreats and life experiences and I became very aware of how it could transform lives, not just on an individual level but within the workplace, too. I saw a clear connection between well-being, productivity, and engagement. As businesses navigated new ways of working, it became evident that looking after people was just as important as looking after the planet.
And so, Be In Your Element was born.
Rooted in the simplicity of the four natural elements; Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. I created a well-being events company that helps people reconnect with themselves, each other, and the world around them, and essentially take what they need in those mindful moments to be in their element.
I’ve always been a tree-hugging, nature-loving advocate for sustainability, but my mission goes beyond environmental sustainability. I speak the language of human sustainability, something I’ve championed for years. My belief is simple: Just as we care for the Earth, we must also care for our people.
Now, through Be In Your Element, I bring well-being to the forefront of workplaces and communities, helping people find balance in this fast-paced world. Because when we nurture ourselves, we have the power to create a more sustainable, connected, and thriving future for all.
This International Women’s Day, I celebrate not just my journey but the resilience of all women who dare to create, nurture, and lead with purpose. Here’s to building a world where well-being isn’t a luxury, it’s a way of life.
