The Rise of Alcohol-Free Options in the Events Industry

It’s no shock to you that our little country the United Kingdom is well-known for our volumes of drinking. A study carried out by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that we rank third in the world for our binge-drinking culture, with 72.1% of adults consuming at least one alcoholic drink per week.

The types of beverages served in the events industry have been shaped by this over the years, which often fall short of providing for the demographic of non-drinkers. It’s very common, almost expected, that when you enter an event during the evening hours you will be presented with either a complementary glass of prosecco or a glass of wine. This is fantastic for those who drink alcohol, but for non-drinkers, it can be rather isolating! Especially so if there isn’t an alcohol-free option or said option requires a special order planned in advance.

Things are changing

Things are however changing for the better in favour of non-drinkers! We’re seeing a greater selection of non-alcoholic drinks coming on the market, and with this we’re seeing greater options for those who choose not to drink during events. We’re seeing draft beer producers coming out with new options, we’re seeing entirely new brands enter the market, and we’re also finding the mentality towards non-drinkers is changing with more individuals making the health benefitting decision.

How we’re helping

In light of this change we’re seeing unfold, we thought it time to mention our Partnership with JOMO Club. JOMO Club are a non-alcoholic subscription drinks service here to offer everyone experience the Joy of Missing Out! Our partnership with JOMO Club allows us to create and deliver our Happy Hour Without the Hangover sessions! These sessions are run by one of their founders, Gemma, who helps introduce members into the joys of experiencing delicious cocktails and delectable beverages without risking a hangover the next day! What better way to spend an afternoon when you don’t need to worry about how you’re feeling the next day?

We’re now in January which also leads to the highly chosen resolution of ‘Dry Jan’. Dry Jan can have some marked improvements for your health if you’re able to stick it out for the full month, including better sleep and easier cognition in the morning. Now is the perfect time to indulge in these sessions and experience the joy of having a few drinks without breaking your resolution! Our recommendation is to pair these sessions up with a relaxing well-being activity such as breathwork, flow movement, beat yoga, meditation or sound therapy. With a company like ours, the possibilities are endless!

Pop an email over to events@yourelementevents.com to discuss introducing your team to JOMO Club and a cleaner way of experiencing a drink.
